Door To Summer? (Knuckles Chaotix)

- turbo-katztic

How’s everyone doing this weekend?

This is the track that the Collection Room from Generations comes from! This is a delightful track, even in the limited instrumentation. I particularly like all the bends and liberties that the melody takes in the bridge section. The tone is great to use for it as well! The hits in the other sounds with tighter waves are great as well, supporting the melody. Check out that fast ride cymbal during the end of the bridge too! The climbing lines and infectious melody really carry this track through. The bell-like sounds add a nice touch, and the rhythm section and comping throughout is really tight and fluid. It’s a fun little track, and I could really listen to it over and over!

You were always the first

The original lyrics put Lennon on a bus in Liverpool, “and it was the most boring sort of ‘What I Did on My Holidays Bus Trip’ song,” he said. So Lennon rewrote the lyrics, changing the song into a gorgeous reminiscence about his life before the Beatles. It’s ranked 23rd on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time
